Scratching the itch since 2008

It has come to our attention that we own way too much shit. A storage unit full of stuff that we haven't seen in 16 years. We keep adding stuff to the unit, and buying things to replace what we haven't seen or can't find.

We're not in this to make money (well, not much money), just space in our lives.

Re-use, re-cycle, re-something.

Sincerely,
Miz Shoes and the Renowned Local Artist

Art Supplies

Art Supplies

Thirty years or more of all types of art supplies. Dried up inks, out of production colored pencils. Fiber. Beads. Etching plates. Broken air brushes. Dark room supplies. Rock hard rubber erasers. If you can't use it for its intended purpose, maybe it can be part of a found object sculpture.    View items>>

R L A Art

R L A Art

When you're an artist, you're an artist all the way, from your first crayon sketch to your last dying day. If you are like any of the artists we know, you also still have every single one of those sketch books and drawings and detours into other media. Now is your chance to buy something from The Renowned Local Artist. or MizShoes, while we're still alive and the work is inexpensive.    View items>>

Collectibles

Collectibles

It's not your fault. You bought a pink flamingo once, because it was cute. Then another because it was kitschy. The next thing you know, people think you collect pink flamingos, because everybody collects something and so now, on every gift giving occasion, you receive pink flamingos. In my family, everybody collects everything. Some people call that being a pack rat. Others call it a psychological condition. I call it quits. Maybe you'd like to start a collection of something. Or maybe you have a friend who collects...something.    View items>>

Toys

Toys

Sometimes, you can't help yourself, you just gotta hit the drive-thru for the newest product placement/tie-in toy. "Yo quiero Taco Bell" chihuahua, anyone? I thought so.     View items>>

Vintage Books

Vintage Books

My books. The Renowned Local Artist's books. My parents' books, and his parents' books. Books that other people dumped into our library. Books that have traveled more than some people I know. Text books, referrence books, art books, style books, how-to books, vintage books, fiction and non-fiction, paper back, hard back, trade publications. Books: old, new, hard bound, soft bound, falling apart or mint. The contents of at least four family libraries have come to rest in our possession, and we just don't have the room or the money to keep them in storage.     View items>>

We all read them, we all saved them. The RLA is selling off his doubles. Mostly excellent to mint condition. Everything from Silver Age to now.     View items>>

Vintage Clothing

Vintage Clothing

My family owned a clothing store, and my grandfather was a tailor. His brother was a cobbler. Some things are just in your blood. Clothing in is mine, but the closet needs to get cleared out. Some items are newer, some are older. Men's ties. Vintage dresses. Souvenir jackets from Mexico. Some of this stuff is tacky, and some is fabulous. Which is which is for you to decide.     View items>>

Vintage Ephemera

Vintage Ephemera

Everything else paper. Magazines, posters, newspaper clippings, recipe books, cards, souvenirs and other stuff that was too interesting to become landfill, but never got upcycled, either. Yet. Maybe it will inspire you.    View items>>

Vintage Patterns

Vintage Patterns

Since I was old enough to hold a needle, I have kept my hands busy with one needle craft or another. Sewing, knitting, crochet, cross stitch, needlepoint: all have had their moments in the sun of my studio, so to speak. My mother was the same. We collected patterns and materials. From the 1940s to the present, our combined collections represent the trends and fancies that interested us.    View items>>

White Elephants

White Elephants

Totally random crap that seemed like a good idea at the time (kind of like your first marriage). Or totally random crap that my Grandmother of Notoriously Bad Taste had hanging around and that I somehow inherited.     View items>>
